“Eugenia has been actively involved in Action on Disability (formerly HAFAD) for over 15 years, starting off as a member of the youth scheme and then volunteering as a support worker on the holiday schemes for 7 years. HAFADs youth scheme involved 50 young disabled young people through out of school term and the holidays, running various activities. Since this she has supported younger members becoming volunteers and built up excellent relationships with the young people and other volunteers, always encouraging and supporting people to become actively involved.
She has developed the music project that has been running here for the last 7 years, raising money to buy equipment and pay for staff to run a weekly project. Eugenia has been at the forefront of this project, developing its progress and being a key member of the 1st Chancers band, showcasing the musical talents of HAFAD’s members.
Eugenia has also been responsible for setting up and fundraising for the youth film project here at HAFAD. She networked and built up links to develop this project that trains young disabled people film making and has created a recent film about gang life. This project has now been running for 6 months. She has set up the HAFAD youth forum and has been a member of the HAFAD executive committee.
Eugenia has been responsible for various other fundraising events for HAFAD and has been a huge support to the project and an excellent role model for other members. She has also become a young ambassador for the Princes Trust”.
